THREE PALESTINIANS KILLED BY IOF IN JENIN

Three Palestinian young men, including security officers from the Palestinian Authority (PA) military intelligence, were shot dead and another officer was critically injured by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Jenin, north of the West Bank.

The health ministry identified the slain officers as Adham Eleiwi, a resident of Nablus, and Tayseer Issa, a resident of Jenin. Both of them died as they traded fire with the IOF.

A third Palestinian identified ex-detainee Jamil al-Amouri, from Jenin refugee camp, was also killed by the IOF during the events.

Another PA intelligence officer identified as Mohamed Manizil from Khirbet al-Mutillah village in Jenin suffered serious bullet injuries and was rushed to the Jenin Hospital.

PA intelligence director in Jenin Taleb Salahat said that the slain officers were executed by the IOF during their night watch, while another young officer (Mohamed Manizil) was seriously wounded by Israeli gunfire during the clashes.

For their part, local sources reported that an ex-detainee called Jamil al-Amouri, a member of al-Quds Brigades of Islamic Jihad, was chased and shot dead by Israeli special forces near the PA intelligence headquarters in al-Nasera street in Jenin City.

The local sources expressed their belief that the nighttime IOF operation was intended to assassinate or arrest Amouri and Wisam Abu Zaid, both wanted, but the sources did not state if Abu Zaid was also from al-Quds Brigades.

The sources explained that armed clashes took place near the PA intelligence building and ended with the IOF killing Amouri and wounding and detaining Abu Zaid.

They added that the situation escalated further into armed clashes between the IOF and PA officers because the incident happened near the PA intelligence headquarters.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli reinforcements stormed the area as the events heated up.
