November 22, 2025The League holds a series of meetings with parliamentary delegations during its participation in the activities of the African Parliamentary Union conference
The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine held a series of meetings with African parliamentary delegations on the sidelines of the 47th African Parliamentary Union conference, which was held in the capital Kinshasa with the participation of several parliamentary presidents and official delegations from the African continent.
The meetings focused on discussing ways to support the Palestinian cause and enhance the African parliamentary role in confronting the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as working on adopting concrete parliamentary resolutions that contribute to stopping the genocide and lifting the siege on the Palestinian people.
Discussions also took place on mechanisms of cooperation between the League and African parliaments in the field of joint parliamentary diplomacy and legislative exchange..
The League's president, Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, stated that the meetings were part of the league's efforts to expand its parliamentary presence in the African continent and to build supportive positions for the rights of the Palestinian people within regional parliamentary unions.
He pointed out that "African parliaments have a long history of advocating for liberation and justice issues, and the league is working to translate this historical solidarity into effective political and legislative positions within international parliamentary institutions".
Al-Ahmar added: "We discussed with several delegation heads ways to cooperate in enacting national legislation that criminalizes dealing with the occupation, supporting efforts to prosecute its leaders before international courts, in addition to developing cooperation in the humanitarian and media fields to support the resilience of the Palestinian people".
In a related context, the league participated in several conference sessions discussing development issues, human rights, and regional peace, where it emphasized in its interventions that true peace cannot be achieved in the face of ongoing Israeli occupation and aggression, calling for the adoption of unified African positions that reject the double standards policy followed by some international powers.
This participation comes within a broad diplomatic movement by the league in recent months, including holding meetings with Arab and Islamic parliaments, submitting official memoranda to the United Nations and international organizations regarding the famine and genocide in Gaza, as well as its efforts to coordinate with regional parliamentary unions to activate legal and political positions supportive of Palestine.
