The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine announced its official engagement in the "Global Day of Action" campaign scheduled for October 10, responding to the call launched by the Global Alliance for Palestine (GAFP).
The League's Secretary-General, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, explained that this step aims to convert popular movements and peaceful sit-ins in solidarity with the Palestinian people into legislative and parliamentary pressure that disrupts the mechanisms of complicity enabling the occupation to escape impunity.
Balawi clarified that the League's Secretariat General will address official letters and detailed memos to all its member parliamentarians around the world, urging them to actively engage and activate their constitutional tools during the parliamentary "mobilization window" spanning October 9–11.
He emphasized that parliamentary action represents the strongest line of defense to translate popular solidarity into decisions that isolate the occupation and strip away its immunity. He noted that the letters include recommendations on the required moves within parliamentary halls—chief among them activating oversight tools by addressing direct questions and inquiries to foreign ministries and heads of government regarding arms exports and economic agreements, with the aim of compelling officials to provide official responses recorded in parliamentary records.
The League also called on its members to lead a legislative movement aimed at imposing a full and immediate arms embargo, suspending preferential trade agreements with the occupation, and obligating governments to fully comply with decisions issued by the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court to end the diplomatic cover granted to war crimes.
The Global Alliance for Palestine (GAFP) had extended an official invitation to the League to actively participate in the "Global Day of Action" scheduled for October 10, 2026, and to leverage the accompanying parliamentary mobilization window (October 9–11).
This campaign coincides with October 10, 2026, and includes an intensive institutional mobilization window from October 9 to 11. Through this participation, the League aims to enhance the role of parliaments in converting mass mobilization and peaceful sit-ins into legislative and structural leverage that breaks public silence and dismantles the mechanisms of complicity that allow the occupation to continue enjoying impunity.
