The delegation of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine, headed by Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, held a series of important bilateral meetings with the heads and representatives of a wide range of parliamentary delegations. This took place on the sidelines of its participation in the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
These meetings included the Palestinian, Turkish, Jordanian, Algerian, Moroccan, and Malaysian delegations. In addition, discussions were held with delegations from Iraq, Mauritania, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, and Burkina Faso, as well as a number of other African and international parliamentary delegations.
During these bilateral meetings, discussions focused on reviewing the dangerous developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and exploring ways to enhance joint institutional cooperation between these parliaments and the League.
The meetings also discussed mechanisms to mobilize support for parliamentary initiatives aimed at championing the Palestinian cause and protecting the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, in light of the ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
The League’s delegation, which also includes the Secretary-General Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi and the Head of the Media Department Eng. Omar Boutaleb, discussed mechanisms to coordinate parliamentary positions to exert pressure in regional and international forums, expose the occupation's crimes, and isolate it.
As part of its efforts to expand its network of international alliances, the League extended official invitations during these meetings to the participating parliaments to engage and actively participate in future events and activities organized by the League.
For their part, the parliamentary delegations met welcomed the League's efforts, confirming an alignment of visions regarding the centrality of the Palestinian cause. They expressed their full readiness for joint action, intensifying diplomatic efforts, and translating solidarity into practical steps that support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate rights.
