June 27, 2026During His Speech at the Baku Conference.. The President of the League Calls for the Formation of an Islamic Parliamentary Alliance to Break the Siege on Gaza
The President of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine, Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, called on Islamic parliaments to move beyond the boundaries of denunciation and condemnation into the realms of effective action and impactful legislation, emphasizing that the Palestinian cause is the world's central issue, and that there is no security or stability in the entire world without a just and comprehensive solution to it.
Mr. Hamid added, during a speech delivered before the twentieth session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, held in the Azerbaijani capital, "Baku," that the occupation is continuing its war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, where more than 1,000 martyrs have risen since the recent agreement.
He stressed that these events prove that Israel does not seek peace, but rather to impose a humiliating surrender and a complete liquidation of the Palestinian cause, noting the danger of the unprecedented demographic and geographic engineering practiced by the occupation in the Gaza Strip by expanding what is known as the "Yellow Line," and carving out about 70% of the Strip's total area, swallowing the city of Rafah and the eastern and northern regions, crowding more than two million people into a narrow strip.
The President of the League condemned the use of "starvation" and the closure of crossings as a tool for humanitarian blackmail, describing it as a full-fledged war crime and genocide.
Al-Ahmar touched upon the atrocities committed against thousands of Palestinian prisoners in the basements of the occupation prisons, including enforced disappearance and brutal torture that led to the martyrdom of dozens. He called for capitalizing on the belated UN recognition that placed the occupation state and the "Prison Service" on the "blacklist" of perpetrators of sexual violence, and turning it into a document of international condemnation.
Regarding the occupied city of Jerusalem, he warned of the existential danger looming over the Al-Aqsa Mosque in light of the undermining of the work of the Islamic Waqf, renewing absolute support for the "Jordanian Custodianship" as a strategic line of defense, and considering any attempt to undermine it a flagrant assault on the Nation.
He also pointed to the settlement expansion in the West Bank, stressing that there is total collusion between official state terrorism and the terrorism of settler gangs.
The President of the League called for unifying the Palestinian ranks as an essential pillar to pave the way for the Arab and Islamic framework to take serious collective action, and for the creation of an Islamic parliamentary alliance aimed at exercising real pressure to impose political and economic sanctions on the occupation, forcing it to withdraw immediately and break the siege on Gaza.
He demanded the building of broader international alliances by involving countries that support Palestinian rights from outside the Islamic group—whose numbers are increasing today—and pressuring the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for prison service officials and occupation leaders based on the UN "blacklist."
He stressed the necessity of forming Islamic parliamentary delegations to visit the Gaza Strip periodically to break its isolation, demanding binding international intervention to open all crossings, enacting national legislation that criminalizes commercial and financial dealings with settlements, and directing governments to establish sustainable support funds for the people of Jerusalem and the West Bank.
The President of the League concluded his speech by emphasizing that history records and future generations will hold everyone accountable, calling on parliamentarians to be "the legislative sword wielded against injustice," and stressing that Jerusalem will remain the compass of free people.
