The League Participates in the Political Affairs Committee Meeting During the Conference of the PUIC in Baku

A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine participated in the meeting of the Permanent Committee on Political Affairs and Foreign Relations, held within the activities of the twentieth session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), spanning the period from June 22 to 25, 2026.

The participating League delegation is headed by Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, President of the League, alongside the League's Director-General Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, and the Head of the Media Department, Eng. Omar Boutaleb.

The meeting of the Permanent Committee on Political Affairs witnessed extensive discussions and great engagement regarding the developments of the Palestinian cause, the war of genocide on the Gaza Strip, and the protection of Jerusalem and the holy sites. The deliberations focused on the gravity of the current situation in Palestine and the ongoing war of genocide that the Strip is subjected to, alongside the continuous attacks and flagrant violations practiced by the occupation and settler herds in the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Within the framework of its participation, the League presented its vision and strategic concepts for dealing with the current stage, emphasizing the principles of the necessity of moving from condemnation to impactful legislation, through drafting firm national laws that criminalize dealing with the occupation and its settlements. The delegation stressed that there is no security or stability in the region and the world except through a just and radical solution to the Palestinian cause, which necessitates building a joint Islamic defense strategy with Palestine at its heart. It also noted that confronting the occupation's endeavors to impose a humiliating surrender requires first unifying the Palestinian house, followed by a sincere and systematic collective movement by the Islamic framework.

The delegation emphasized the necessity of activating field and popular parliamentary diplomacy and dispatching parliamentary delegations to break the siege on Gaza, while embracing and supporting the popular movements in Islamic countries that stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The participation of the League's delegation in the political committee meeting comes as part of an intensive and comprehensive attendance program designed to enhance the League's standing within the corridors of the Union.

Alongside this committee, the delegation actively participated in the fourteenth meeting of the Permanent Committee on Palestine to follow up on resolutions and protect the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem, and attended the meeting of the Arab Group to coordinate joint parliamentary positions, in addition to attending the plenary, opening, and closing sessions of the conference.

On the sidelines of the conference, the League's delegation is conducting a series of bilateral meetings with heads of parliaments and participating delegations, with the aim of mobilizing diplomatic energies and discussing opportunities for joint institutional cooperation.
