Led by its President Mr. Hamid Al-Ahmar.. The League Participates in the 20th Session of the PUIC in Baku

A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine is participating in the proceedings of the twentieth session of the conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, during the period from June 22 to 25, 2026.

The participating League delegation is headed by Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, President of the League, Director-General Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, and Head of the Media Department, Eng. Omar Boutaleb.

The participation of the League's delegation in this important Islamic parliamentary forum comes to achieve and enhance the League's presence in Islamic parliamentary forums, expand the network of parliamentary relations supporting the Palestinian cause, enhance coordination with member parliaments regarding support for the Palestinian people, and discuss opportunities for joint cooperation with regional and international parliaments and parliamentary institutions.

The participation program includes intensive attendance in the committees and meetings of the conference, as the delegation participated in the fourteenth meeting of the Permanent Committee on Palestine to follow up on its deliberations and support initiatives specific to Jerusalem and Palestine, and the meeting of the Permanent Committee on Political Affairs and Foreign Relations to discuss developments in the Palestinian cause, the aggression on Gaza, and the protection of holy sites.

The delegation will also attend the meeting of the Arab Group to coordinate positions supporting Palestine, alongside the opening and closing sessions, and the meetings of the general committees.

The President of the League emphasized the extreme importance of this session, as it comes at a pivotal timing that the cause of the Palestinian people is passing through, along with the continuation of the war of genocide in the Gaza Strip and Judaization in the occupied city of Jerusalem, explaining that it aims to activate the role of Islamic parliamentary diplomacy to confront the ongoing aggression on Gaza and protect Jerusalem and the holy sites.

He continued, "We are striving to follow up on all resolutions and recommendations issued by the Union, to ensure they are transformed into practical steps supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, and to expand the network of parliamentary alliances defending their legitimate rights."

For his part, the Director-General of the League explained that the delegation's agenda includes a series of important bilateral meetings, stating: "We have developed an integrated work plan to capitalize on this major parliamentary gathering to open new horizons of cooperation with member parliaments and attract new partners for the League's activities."

He continued, "We will work to review our initiatives and future plans by holding intensive bilateral meetings with heads of parliaments and delegations, to enhance institutional cooperation and exchange expertise in a way that serves the centrality of the Palestinian cause."

On the sidelines of the conference proceedings, the delegation is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with a number of participating parliamentary delegations, with the aim of enhancing institutional cooperation, mobilizing support for parliamentary initiatives related to Palestine and Jerusalem, and inviting these parliaments to actively participate in future activities and events organized by the League.
