June 3, 2026MP Turan: Gaza Genocide is a Continuation of Colonial Partition Projects in the Region
The Deputy President of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine and Chairman of the Palestine Committee in the Turkish Parliament, MP Hasan Turan, asserted that the ongoing war of genocide against the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian people is merely a historical extension of colonial partition projects that began with "Sykes-Picot" and culminated in the "Nakba" of 1948. He emphasized that defending Jerusalem and Palestine is a direct defense of the security and stability of all the capitals across the Islamic nation.
Speaking at the 3rd Popular Conference for Palestinians in Turkey, Turan explained that colonial maps did not just tear the land apart, but targeted the destiny of peoples and the memory of cities. He recalled the honorable historical stance of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, who refused to cede a single inch of Palestine to the Zionist movement, regarding it as a land irrigated with the nation's blood that cannot be compromised.
He added: "Those who do not read history and do not understand what is happening in Palestine today will not be able to comprehend the geopolitical shifts and influence-sharing projects taking place in the world."
The member of the League's Executive Committee stressed that true defeat does not occur on the battlefields, but rather through "surrender." He affirmed that the Palestinian people and their valiant resistance have proven to the world that clinging to one's rights and refusing to subjugate is the path to victory.
Turan paid tribute to all international solidarity activists standing in the face of injustice, recalling the sacrifices of global solidarity icons such as "Rachel Corrie" and "Aysenur Ezgi Eygi." He emphasized that the League considers every free voice rejecting genocide to be a partner and a brother in humanity.
He concluded his speech by calling on the Islamic nation to cast aside divisions and realign its compass toward Jerusalem, stressing that "Jerusalem is not to be ruled, but to be served," and that regaining the civilizational initiative is contingent upon ending this colonial entity perched upon the heart of the nation.
