League Participates in the Second Meeting of Parliaments Supporting Palestine

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine participated in the second meeting of the Group of Parliaments Supporting Palestine, held on the sidelines of the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Istanbul. This participation aligns with the League’s ongoing efforts to bolster international parliamentary presence in support of the Palestinian cause and to expand its network of relations with regional and international parliaments. Such engagement aims to unify stances and coordinate actions focused on halting the aggression, lifting the blockade, and holding the occupation accountable for its crimes.

The League’s delegation was composed of its Vice President and Chairman of the Palestine-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Hasan Turan, alongside the Secretary-General of the League, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, and the Head of the Media Department, Eng. Omar Boutaleb.

During his address at the meeting, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, warned against the occupation’s recent legislative policies, most notably the Knesset's efforts to pass a law for the execution of prisoners. He asserted that such moves serve as clear evidence of the occupation’s persistence in a policy of killing, devoid of any regard for international law or human values. Furthermore, he commended the recent wave of international recognition of the State of Palestine, which he noted reflects a growing global conviction in the justice of the Palestinian cause.

The participants reached a consensus in praising Turkey’s pivotal role in defending Palestinian rights. They also collectively condemned the ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the systematic policies of displacement and settlement expansion in the West Bank, and the escalating restrictions and violations targeting the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
