July 2, 2025President of the League Calls for Broad Islamic Parliamentary Action to Stop the Genocidal War in Gaza
Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, President of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, called during his speech at the 19th General Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, for the formation of an Islamic parliamentary delegation to visit the U.S. Congress and international institutions. The aim is to convey the voice of the Islamic peoples and demand an end to the aggression on Gaza and the lifting of the blockade.
Al-Ahmar emphasized the need for intensified diplomatic efforts to document the war crimes committed in Gaza and to demand accountability for those responsible before international courts. He also stressed the importance of supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people by providing unrestricted humanitarian and medical aid.
He called for strengthening Islamic parliamentary cooperation to monitor developments in the Palestinian cause, adopting campaigns to boycott products that support the occupation and its backers, intensifying media campaigns to expose the crimes of the occupation, and the urgent and effective mobilization to support the Palestinian cause and confront the ongoing violations against the Palestinian people.
Al-Ahmar underscored that the Palestinian people are facing dire conditions marked by continuous aggression on the Gaza Strip, a suffocating blockade, and systematic genocide, amid international silence and the complicity of some major powers. This, he said, places a greater responsibility on Islamic parliaments to take effective action and exert political and legal pressure.
He stressed that the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine bears the responsibility of defending the rights of the Palestinian people in various international forums. He reiterated the call for an urgent Islamic parliamentary delegation to visit the U.S. Congress and international legislative bodies to convey the voice of Islamic peoples and demand an immediate end to the aggression on Gaza and the lifting of the blockade.
He added that the League will continue its efforts in supporting parliamentary diplomacy by documenting the war crimes committed in Gaza with the United Nations, calling for accountability for the perpetrators before international courts, and providing the necessary support to strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people through mobilizing humanitarian, medical, and relief resources.
The President of the League praised Indonesia for hosting the conference, emphasizing the importance of the event in reinforcing the unity of the Islamic parliamentary stance in support of the Palestinian cause, the need to end the genocidal war in Gaza, and to reject displacement.
Mr. Al-Ahmar concluded his speech by affirming that the Palestinian cause will remain a top priority for the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, and that the League will continue to work vigorously until the Palestinian people attain their full legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
