The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine has completed its participation in the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member Countries. The conference was held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, between May 12 and 15, 2025.
In this delegation, the League's President Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, Secretary-General Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, Executive Committee member and MP Sayyid Ibrahim Sayyid Nuh, and League's advisor Bashir Jarallah were present.
The League expressed gratitude and appreciation to the President of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Ms. Puan Maharani, and the Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and MP Mr. Mardani Ali Sera for hosting and organizing this important conference. The League also praised Indonesia's historical role in supporting Palestine, whether by the government or the people.
In a press statement issued at the end of the conference, the League highlighted the significance of this parliamentary event, which brings together parliamentarians from Islamic countries to unite on just issues of the Ummah (Islamic community), especially in joint efforts to support Palestine. The League emphasized the need to strengthen parliamentary cooperation among member countries so that support can be extended to the Palestinian people in their struggle against Israeli occupation. Additionally, the League strongly condemned the violence, destruction, and blockade by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
The League appealed to the international community to uphold their legal and humanitarian responsibilities. They also suggested the establishment of an Islamic parliamentary delegation to visit the American Congress and other international organizations, so that the voice of Islamic countries can be heard there and immediate demands for ending attacks and blockades on Gaza can be made.
The League stressed the importance of documenting war crimes in Gaza and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice in international courts. They also called for strengthening humanitarian and medical assistance to support the Palestinian people's struggle.
Finally, the League reiterated its unwavering commitment to defending the rights of the Palestinian people and pledged that their efforts will continue until the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights - freedom and sovereignty.
