July 2, 2025League Delegation Meets Chair of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Indonesian Parliament
A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine held a meeting with MP Mardani Ali Sera, Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and member of the Indonesian Parliament, on the sidelines of the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
The delegation included Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, President of the League; MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, Member of the Executive Committee of the Ligue; Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, Secretary-General; and Bachir Djarallah, Advisor to the League.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the League and the Indonesian Parliament and to activate parliamentary diplomacy in Southeast Asia in support of the Palestinian cause.
Both parties emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation between the League and the Indonesian Parliament, intensifying joint efforts to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, and enhancing their representation in parliaments and international forums, especially in South Asia.
Al-Ahmar praised Indonesia’s historic role in supporting Palestine and stressed the importance of uniting Islamic parliamentary efforts to confront the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, and to strengthen solidarity and practical action with the Palestinian people.
For his part, Mardani strongly condemned the systematic genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza and called for a unified Islamic parliamentary move to hold Israel accountable for its crimes through parliamentary diplomacy and support for international legal actions.
He affirmed that Indonesia’s support for Palestine is not just a political stance, but a constitutional and national obligation, noting that Palestine was one of the first countries to recognize Indonesia’s independence.
Mardani stressed the need to translate this support into practical programs within Indonesian government policies, including exerting pressure to expel the Israeli occupation from the United Nations and to hold its leaders accountable for war crimes.
This meeting is part of a series of discussions the League has held with parliamentary delegations from various Islamic countries, aimed at enhancing parliamentary coordination to support the Palestinian cause, document the crimes of the occupation in Gaza, and work toward holding those responsible accountable before international courts.
