League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine Praises European Officials' Demand to Suspend Partnership Agreement with Israel, Calls for Immediate Implementation

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine highly commends the progressive stance and significant step taken by more than 350 European officials—including ministers, ambassadors, and prominent political leaders—who issued an official appeal demanding the suspension of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Israel.

This influential diplomatic and political movement reflects a genuine growing awareness within Europe and the international community regarding the gravity of the crimes and gross violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

The League views this appeal not only as a political and moral stance but as an enforceable legal obligation. Article 2 of the EU-Israel Association Agreement explicitly states that respect for human rights and democratic principles constitutes an essential element of the agreement—principles that the occupation state flouts daily through war crimes, acts of genocide, and the entrenchment of an apartheid system.

The League emphasizes that the continued operation of this agreement, or hesitation in taking deterrent punitive measures, provides the Israeli occupation with economic and political cover to persist in its massacres and enjoy impunity.

Furthermore, the League stresses that this position, voiced by influential European figures, dismantles all excuses preventing EU institutions from making decisive resolutions that align with the principles of International Humanitarian Law and the founding values of the Union.

The League calls upon the European Commission and the European Council to:

  • Respond immediately to this appeal.

  • Move beyond verbal condemnations and take field-level action by immediately implementing the suspension of the Association Agreement.

The League also demands an expansion of this diplomatic effort, urging all parliaments and parliamentary unions in Europe and worldwide to adopt similar positions. It calls for the formation of a global pressure front to freeze all economic, military, and security agreements with the occupation state and to isolate it internationally until it complies with international legitimacy resolutions, ends its occupation of Palestinian territories, and recognizes the rights of the Palestinian people—foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
