Issued by the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine Regarding the Tragically Collapsed Residential Building Housing Displaced Persons in Gaza City, the Ongoing Genocide, and Its Repercussions
The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine follows with profound sorrow and pain the tragic collapse of the "Al-Saada" residential building in Gaza City. The building was sheltering more than 10 displaced families who were forced to seek refuge there due to the complete lack of safe shelter centers. This resulted in the martyrdom of dozensāmostly women and childrenāwhile dozens more remain missing and injured under the rubble, in a horrific human tragedy that embodies the ugliest face of the ongoing war of genocide against the Palestinian people.
The League emphasizes that this disaster cannot be passed over as an isolated accident; rather, it is a direct result of the systematic war of destruction waged by the Israeli war machine against infrastructure and residential blocks, destroying all aspects of life and preventing reconstruction as well as the entry of necessary equipment to clear debris, turning damaged buildings into traps of "delayed death."
The League holds the international community, the UN Security Council, and state supporters of the occupation fully responsible and directly complicit in this crime through their silence and failure to compel the occupation to lift its unjust siege and abide by the terms of the ceasefire agreement. This provides a green light to continue the genocide through indirect means of killing, leaving civilians prey to a slow death under the rubble.
The League condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli occupationās insistence on preventing the entry of heavy machinery, equipment, and spare parts necessary for the Civil Defense and rescue teams to operate, forcing them to work with manual and primitive tools to extract victims and those trapped under tons of concrete.
The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine calls upon all international and regional parliaments and legislative unions to act urgently and immediately to move beyond verbal condemnations, applying real pressure to break the siege and force the occupation to allow the immediate entry of rescue equipment, international relief teams, building materials, and shelter units.
