The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine Condemns the Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Ben Gvir and Knesset Members and Holds the Occupation Responsible for the Ongoing Escalation

Press Release

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine strongly condemns the storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque this Monday morning by the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, accompanied by several Knesset members, in a blatant violation of the sanctity of the site and the sovereignty of the Palestinian people over their land and holy places.

The League affirms that this provocative incursion is part of a systematic policy aimed at imposing a new status quo at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, within a broader Judaization project targeting the entire holy city. This constitutes a flagrant breach of the historical and legal status quo, as well as international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

This dangerous escalation comes amid the ongoing genocidal war waged by the occupation against the Gaza Strip, accompanied by horrific massacres against civilians, in the face of a disgraceful international silence that can only be interpreted as direct complicity in the crimes of the occupation and an encouragement for the continued systematic violations of human rights and international law.

The League calls on the international community —including the United Nations, the European Union, and national parliaments— to assume their legal and moral responsibilities by taking immediate and effective action to stop these violations, hold the perpetrators accountable, and provide international protection for the Palestinian people and their holy sites.
