Statement by the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine on its Participation in the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States

At the conclusion of its participation in the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, held in the Indonesian capital Jakarta from May 12 to 15, 2025, the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to H.E. President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, H.E. Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani, and Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and Member of the Indonesian Parliament, Mr. Mardani Ali Sera, for hosting and organizing this important conference. The League also highly commends the historic role played by the Indonesian government and people in supporting the Palestinian cause.

The League, whose participating delegation included President Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, Secretary-General Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, Executive Committee Member MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, and League Advisor Bashir Jarallah, affirms the importance of this parliamentary event which brings together representatives of Islamic parliaments and aims to unify efforts to support the just causes of the Ummah, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. The League also stresses the need to strengthen parliamentary cooperation among member states to support the Palestinian people and their steadfastness in confronting the Israeli occupation. It strongly condemns the ongoing crimes committed by the occupation in the Gaza Strip, including killings, destruction, and siege.

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine calls on the international community to assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities and urges the formation of an Islamic parliamentary delegation to visit the U.S. Congress and international institutions to convey the voice of the Islamic peoples and demand an immediate end to the aggression against Gaza and the lifting of the blockade.

The League also emphasizes the importance of documenting the war crimes committed in Gaza and holding those responsible accountable before international courts, in addition to supporting humanitarian and medical efforts aimed at strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian people.

Finally, the League reaffirms its unwavering commitment to defending the rights of the Palestinian people and stresses that it will spare no effort until the Palestinian people obtain all their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
