The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine Condemns the Assassination Crime of Journalists in Gaza and Affirms Full Responsibility of the Occupation

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine condemns in the strongest terms the heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces, assassinating a number of journalists in the Gaza Strip, including correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qaraqea, and photographers Ibrahim Daher and Mohammed Nofal, most of them from the Al Jazeera network, after a direct targeting of the journalists' tent near the Shifa Medical Complex.

The League affirms that this crime represents a blatant and deliberate assault on press freedom, and a desperate attempt to silence the courageous voices that convey the truth from the heart of the humanitarian tragedy experienced by the Palestinian people in Gaza, amidst the genocidal war and suffocating siege.

The League emphasizes that this targeting was not an accidental incident, but part of a systematic policy aimed at obscuring the facts, preventing the documentation of crimes, terrorizing journalists and media institutions.

The League holds the Israeli occupation, its government, and its military leaders fully responsible for this crime, pointing out that the repeated open incitement by the occupation authorities against journalists, especially the Al Jazeera team in Gaza, amounts to a prior testimony of criminal intent.

The League calls for immediate action from the International Federation of Journalists and journalist protection organizations to open an independent investigation into this crime, ensure the prosecution of its perpetrators before the International Criminal Court, and clear and explicit condemnation from global parliaments, governments, and media institutions for this crime, and to stop the policy of impunity that encourages the occupation to repeat its crimes.
