Stefania Ascari, a member of the Italian Parliament (Five Stars Movement) and member the European League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine, said that promoting the suppression of worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque as tension or a clash between the so-called only democracy in the Middle East and Palestinians is shameful.
Ascari explained that what happened in Al-Aqsa was a "massacre" against innocent people in a place of worship during the holy month of Ramadan. She said, "If the same thing had happened anywhere else in the world, we would all be reporting the crime and condemning it."
She continued, "Instead, it happened once again in Jerusalem, and the victims are Palestinians, and the suppression is being promoted as tension or a clash between the so-called only democracy in the Middle East and Palestinians."
Ascari emphasized that "respect for human rights, international agreements, and the right to exist of a people are at stake, and the international community must take a position to stop the violence."
