PRESS RELEASE OF THE LP4Q ON THE OCCASION OF THE 45TH ANNIVERSARY OF LAND DAY

PRESS RELEASE OF THE LP4Q ON THE OCCASION OF THE 45TH ANNIVERSARY OF LAND DAY

On the forty-fifth anniversary of Land Day, the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds (LP4Q) sends a salute to the Palestinian people who made the most precious sacrifices during their struggle to defend their land and rights in the face of Israeli plans to erase their history and national identity.

LP4Q stresses that this commemoration is proof of the failure of all attempts to acquiesce the Palestinian people and to impose a fait accompli to prevent them from what is rightfully theirs, and an expression of the Palestinian people's attachment to their land and their rejection of colonial policies directed against their historical existence.

This commemoration comes at a time when the occupied city of Jerusalem and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, are facing a dangerous Judaization campaign and eviction decisions by the occupation forces aimed at evicting the owners of the land and replacing the settlers, with the aim of altering the city's landmarks, its historical character and erasing Palestinian antiquities.

LP4Q calls on parliaments and international and human rights institutions on this occasion to take action to stop the occupation's plans and attacks on Palestinian lands and rights, to work for the implementation of international and UN resolutions on Palestine, to condemn the occupation's policy of ethnic cleansing, oblige it to implement those decisions, and enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.
