The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds (LP4Q) denounces the statements of the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in which he claimed that "the Palestinians do not qualify as a sovereign state and therefore are not qualified to obtain membership as a state in the ICC, to participate as a state in it, or to delegate jurisdiction to the ICC."
These statements are seen as a continuation of the positions of the previous US administration of President Donald Trump and are a great disappointment to those hoping for change from the current US administration of Joe Biden.
LP4Q calls on the Biden administration to be more moderate and fair and not to align its positions on the International Criminal Court with the Israeli occupation and to selectively express narrow interests that contradict the United States' stated principles on human rights. This behavior toward the International Criminal Court raises grave doubts about American credibility.
It is time for the United States of America to support the rights of the Palestinian people and not punish those who defend human rights, and in this regard, we call on Washington to lift the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration against the International Criminal Court prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda and her colleagues, and we also call on the U.S. administration to stop reproducing Israeli positions and deal objectively and fairly with the Palestinian people and their rights.
