The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds (LP4Q) condemns the arrest by the occupation forces on Tuesday, of Legislative Council MP, and member of the League, Jihad Abu Zneid, from Shuafat Camp in Jerusalem, and the occupation court's ruling of a two-year sentence in Ofer Prison against Representative Khaleda Jarrar, and also condemns the administrative detention of MP Yasser Mansour.
The League calls on its members, world parliaments, and relevant institutions to put pressure and compel the Israeli occupation to abide by its legal obligations to cease all violations of the rights of the representatives of the Palestinian people, and its political and community leaders.
The League calls upon the institutions of the international community and human rights institutions to condemn the repressive measures and to urgently intervene for the immediate release of the deputies detained in the prisons of the occupation.
The League affirms that the measures are a flagrant violation of international law, human rights principles and of international norms and covenants. LP4Q noted that there is no basis or legal justification for these measures, instead it is a political decision aimed at limiting the role of parliamentarians in confronting the crimes of the occupation, and to deter them from participating in political life.
