Press Release
Issued by The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine regarding the Israeli aggression on Gaza
The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine strongly condemns the brutal Israeli aggression that targeted the Gaza Strip at dawn today, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of innocent civilians, including children and women, in a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement reached last January.
Once again, the Israeli occupation proves its rejection of any political settlement, opting instead for bloody solutions that only deepen the crisis and exacerbate instability in the region and the world. The occupation resists negotiation and operates with excessive arrogance, issuing commands and expecting compliance, while offering nothing in return but more aggression and bloodshed.
A previous negotiation process led to the mutual release of prisoners and detainees, which eased tensions and could have been a step toward a comprehensive political solution. However, at every stage, the occupation has placed obstacles and adhered only minimally to the agreements reached during a complex negotiation process that lasted over a year.
It is time to put an end to the occupation’s aggression by activating the commitments of nations and international organizations to the international laws they have signed. Continued disregard for the occupation’s grave violations poses a threat to international peace and security.
The double standards in dealing with the occupation must end, or the price will be further instability and an expansion of the conflict, with the Palestinian people not being the only ones to suffer in this equation.
The Palestinian people have the right to freedom and a dignified life in their homeland and independent state, free from the machinery of war and destruction that the occupation insists on using as its sole option, despite its proven failure to achieve any peace or stability.
We call on the international community to take immediate action to stop the crimes of the occupation and hold its perpetrators accountable. We urge the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to pressure the occupation to lift the unjust siege on the Gaza Strip and ensure the immediate entry of humanitarian aid.
We also call on Arab, Islamic, and international parliaments to convene urgent sessions to discuss ways to confront Israeli aggression, strengthen solidarity with the Palestinian people, and take decisive steps to end the occupation and hold it accountable for its ongoing crimes against innocent civilians.
