The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine Welcomes the Ceasefire Agreement in Gaza

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, reflecting a response to the voices of peoples and international communities calling for an end to the cycle of violence and the protection of innocent civilians.

We in the League affirm that achieving this agreement is an important first step toward ending the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, which has been under siege for years. We also call for the lifting of the unjust blockade on the Strip and for ensuring the national rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.

The League commends the role played by the mediating parties that worked to achieve this agreement and urges them to continue their efforts to ensure adherence to the ceasefire and prevent any new escalation.

We call on the international community to intensify its efforts to pressure the Israeli occupation to end its ongoing violations in the Palestinian territories and to immediately initiate practical steps to end the occupation in accordance with the principles of international law.

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine reaffirms its full support for the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle and will continue to be a global parliamentary voice advocating for their just cause until comprehensive and just peace is achieved in the region.
