Press Statement

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine Concludes its Fifth Conference

With the esteemed presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and under the patronage of the President of the Turkish National Assembly, Professor Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, the league of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine concluded its fifth conference, held under the theme "Freedom and Independence for Palestine", with the attendance of Speakers of Parliaments, MPs from 80 countries, and official and international figures.

The conference witnessed important parliamentary, dialogue, legal, and political sessions addressing the Palestinian cause's critical situation. Discussions focused on ways to stop the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the role of the league and parliaments in the Palestinian cause, the deadly consequences of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip, and the forced displacement policies perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, including the looming dangers facing the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Additionally, the conference saw the election of the executive committee for the new term, with Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar elected as its president, with wide participation from the attending members.

The league emphasizes that the conference was convened out of responsibility and the esteemed position held by the league among parliaments. It aims to defend Palestinian rights and the symbolic status of Jerusalem, considering the current phase requires intensive efforts and continuous actions to stop the genocide war and halt the heinous colonial plans of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

The league underscores that the conference will serve as a launchpad for a global parliamentary movement aimed at reviving the system of rights, justice, values, and righteous humanitarian principles and seeking justice for the Palestinian cause.

The league calls on parliaments, parliamentary bodies, and parliamentarians to join the league's movement seeking justice for the Palestinian people and lifting oppression from them. It urges the implementation of the conference participants' recommendations and the unification of efforts to maintain regional and international peace and security, endangered by the Israeli occupation's continued projects, plans, and serious violations of international law and the sanctities of Islam, Christianity, and the rights of the Palestinian people.

The league commends the Turkish positions, especially the stance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, rejecting the genocide war and describing the Palestinian people's resistance as terrorism. It also appreciates the efforts and generous patronage of the Turkish Parliament, represented by the current president of the Parliament, Professor Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, and the former parliamentary heads. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Nureddin Nebati, the head of the supreme preparatory committee for the conference, and Deputy Hasan Turan, the head of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Committee, for their support of the league's activities and for facilitating the organization of its conferences, contributing to its prestigious global status as a leading global parliamentary platform.
