The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds condemns Britain’s decision to designate Hamas as a terrorist organization

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds condemns the British government’s decision to classify the largest Palestinian national movement in the Palestinian Legislative Council, “Hamas Movement” as a “terrorist” organization, and stresses that the decision falls within the isolationist policy based on eliminating dialogue and ignoring diplomacy, and will have a negative impact on the desired stability and peace in the region.
The League is also surprised by the insistence of successive British governments to play a destructive role for the rights of the Palestinian people since the disastrous Balfour, through the illegal Zionist immigration under the British Mandate over Palestine, and then the "Nakba" that led to the displacement of half of the Palestinian people from their land, and their constant support since then for the Zionist occupation and its racist policies and crimes against the defenseless Palestinian people who are seeking their freedom and self-determination.

The League also stresses that this step will not contribute to strengthening cultural and religious harmony, but rather it may lead to fueling the spirit of extremism and violence in the region.
