ASIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS CALL ON BIDEN ADMINISTRATION TO SUPPORT PALESTINIAN RIGHTS

Bimal Rathnayake, Member of The Sri Lankan Parliament that his country rejects normalization agreements with the Israeli occupation, and the Parliament continues to pressure the government to adhere to its position in supporting the Palestinian rights and confronting American and Israeli pressures, calling on US President-elect Joe Biden to show justice and integrity and to support the just causes in The world, especially the Palestinian cause.
During a parliamentary webinar organized by the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds (LP4Q), in cooperation with the Asia-Middle East Forum entitled "is Normalization a prelude to peace or concessions?", Rathnayake stressed that the peoples of the free world reject the normalization of their regimes and governments, and they support the Palestinian rights, calling for united efforts to reject the steps Normalization.
In The webinar which has witnessed participation from parliamentarians from Sri Lanka, India and the Palestinian Legislative Council, Rathnayake called on the international community to pressurize Israel to be obliged to the international decisions and norms, and to keep the global standards, reiterating his country's position of rejecting all Israeli attacks and its plans to steal the Palestinian lands.
For his part, MP K. C. Tyagi, member of India's parliament said that the United States under Donald Trump had supported the theft of Palestinian lands, and the parliaments of the world should work to correct these mistakes against the Palestinian people, pointing out that the White House chose to stand against Palestinian rights, supporting the Israeli attacks and violating the international legitimacy.
Tyagi indicated that Israel has stepped up its settlement plans and its working to annex more for the settlements, because of the American cover and support, stressing the need to work in restoring international legitimacy regarding the Palestinian issue.
For his part, MP Saud Hussein, member of the Maldives parliament warned of a real health catastrophe threatening the Gaza Strip as a result of the lack of capabilities and medical supplies due to the Israeli blockade, especially with the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, stressing the need for urgent action by the international community to pressure Israel to make it enter the medical and health aids.
Hussein called on the new US administration to stand in a neutral manner towards the Palestinian cause and grant the Palestinian people their right of self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, adding: "Israel is trying to implement its Judaization plans in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its increase its settlement plans to steal more Palestinian lands in light of the support of the current wave of normalization. "
He continued: "I appeal to parliamentarians around the world to support the Palestinian cause, to stand by the rights of the Palestinian people at this difficult time in the history of the Palestinian cause," noting that the Israeli occupation is a threat to the whole world, not just to Palestine and the region.

For her part, Huda Naim, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), affirmed that the normalization agreements are in the interest of the occupation and it makes Israel the dominant power in the region at the expense of other peoples’ rights. indicating Parliamentary activities and statements must be converted into action programs to reinforce the boycott of the Israeli occupation and support Palestinian rights.
Naim indicated that parliaments had a great responsibility to confront the plans aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause, stressing the need to unify parliamentary efforts in order to deter the normalization.
For his part, DR. Mohammad Makram Balawi, the director-general of LP4Q, called on Sri Lanka, India and the rest of the friends of the Palestinian people not to surrender to the American and Israeli blackmail, and to put the humanitarian interest before the delusional and swift interests, because the interest of humanity is to establish peace based upon justice, stressing that normalization of the Arab countries with the occupation indicates that these countries are fragile states, and it lacks the national project and the free will under US pressure.
Balawi added that the real war is against the Palestinian people, and peace is achieved when the Palestinian people obtain their rights, including their right in the occupied city of Jerusalem, the return of refugees, the release of prisoners, and the end of the Gaza siege, stressing that any peace without that, is a kind of hypocrisy, and postponing the problem and won’t be a solution
He affirmed: " Israel must know that its actions have consequences, which must be in the shape of boycott campaigns and pressure on it to grant the Palestinian people their rights."  adding, "The claim which says that peace can be achieved without moral values, is a waste of these countries’ principles, and it’s a blatant violation of their laws and constitutions, and will not lead to peace and prosperity".
Balawi reminded the governments of the injustice against the Gaza Strip, which has been imposed for 14 years, which is experiencing catastrophic human and health conditions, in light of the spread of the Corona pandemic in conjunction with the shortage of medical supplies due to the Israeli blockade.
