West Bank MPs welcome the dissolution of the "Administrative Committee" and demand the activation of the Legislative Council

The Islamic deputies in the West Bank welcomed the decision to dissolve the Administrative Committee in the Gaza Strip, demanding at the same time the need to activate the Legislative Council to be a source of confidence in the work of institutions and government.
In a press statement issued by the deputies, the deputies called on the Palestinian Authority president to seize this opportunity and to quickly “cancel all decisions and punitive measures as promised as an immediate benefit in return for the dissolution of the committee.”
They said in a statement that “in light of our principled position, we support all serious efforts to achieve reconciliation and end the division. We call for the return of the suspended salaries in particular the salaries of released prisoners, the abolition of the forced retirement of employees, the lifting of the ban and the blocking of websites, the transfer of funds for the fuel of electricity in Gaza, and the resumption of medical transfers to the fullest.
They also called on the government to start its work and carry out its tasks and duties immediately towards people of the sector, and all those responsible for creating the appropriate atmosphere for comprehensive national reconciliation, and the removal of all obstacles that prevent this, especially with regard to public freedoms, political detention, and the release of political prisoners in accordance with the principles of the Palestinian Basic Law.
And stressed the need to activate the Legislative Council and the convening of meetings to take care of reconciliation efforts leading to national elections.
They concluded their statement by saying “We hope that the steps of reconciliation will continue to restore national cohesion and establish the bases of political partnership on the path of formulating a national consensus program that gives hope and achieves the goals of our people in unity, freedom and independence.”
