MP Mustafa Barghouthi, the secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative movement, met with Italian parliamentarians from the Italian Democratic and Progressive Movement, including Arturo Scotto and Roberto Spranza in the presence of the Italian consul general in Jerusalem.

Barghouthi explained the political situation of the Palestinian people and the racist practices carried out by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Jerusalem, and the Apartheid system that it established.

Barghouthi described the Israeli settlement campaign, the construction of the wall and the Apartheid regime imposed by the Israeli occupation. He also explained in detail the suffering of the Gaza Strip due to the siege and the lack of electricity.

Barghouthi said that Israel is systematically destroying the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian state and seeks to expel the Palestinian people through the policy of Judaization, demolition of houses and confiscation of land.

Barghuti added that what the Israeli occupation is doing in the Old City in Hebron and the policy of judaization and harassment of the 25,000 inhabitants of the Old City are aimed at displacing them in order to complete the control of the Old City for 400 settlers.

The delegation visited several areas in Hebron and was briefed on the racist policies of the Israeli occupation and the settlers and the suffering of the citizens.
