The 25th Arab Parliamentary Union, the Jerusalem session, considered that the recent Israeli measures in the occupied city of Jerusalem as policies to push the region into a religious war and to confiscate the right and freedom of worship as a basic human right.

They stressed in a final statement of the conference held in the Moroccan capital Rabat on Thursday that the Palestinian issue is superior to other issues. They called for mobilizing international support for the Palestinian cause.

The participants called for working with Arab governments and civil society organizations to provide financial support to the families of Palestinian martyrs and their homes. They proposed the establishment of a parliamentary support fund for Al Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.

The conference condemned the Israeli practices of repression and killing against the Palestinian people for their legitimate rights and expressed their strong rejection of the measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities in Al-Aqsa Mosque and its environs and in Al-Quds in a try to install technical, security and control mechanisms to block access to Al-Aqsa Mosque , as they considered it aggression and provocation by the occupation authorities and a new episode in the series of repression and the confiscation of the rights of the Palestinian people.

They stressed that these actions and the accompanying killings and repression of the Palestinian people constitute a violation of the most basic human rights of Palestinian people. They rejected all Israeli measures to change the city’s landmarks, obliterate its Arab and Islamic identity, and confiscate Palestinian property.

They called upon the United Nations and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to assume full responsibility for the protection of the historical heritage and historical and archaeological sites in Palestine, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in order to change its identity or destroy it; and to implement international conventions to protect human heritage in times of occupation and war especially The Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols to the section on the protection of historical, cultural and religious monuments.
