Swiss Parliament and the Spanish government reject Israeli attempts to criminalize "BDS"

The international movement to boycott the Israeli occupation (BDS) said on Monday, “The attempts of the Israeli entity to pass a draft resolution in the Swiss parliament to criminalize the movement’s work, has failed.”
“The Israeli occupation government has failed in its campaign with the support of the European Zionist lobby to ban government funding for organizations that advocate and support the struggle and rights of the Palestinian people through the boycott strategie ” it said in a statement on Monday.
The movement also noted that “the Spanish central government confirmed that the right to call for the boycott of Israel and solidarity with the Palestinian struggle is protected by laws guaranteeing freedom of expression.”
It described the decision of the Spanish government as a “historical precedent”, indicating that “the decision means the accession of the Swiss and Spanish governments, to the official European positions which refuse to restrict the right to call for the boycott as a tool to advocate the rights of the Palestinian people.”
