Claims from the US Congress to Israel to respond to the prisoners’ demands

Members of the US Congress asked the Israeli government to clarify its position on the demands of the Palestinian prisoners who are hunger strikers, especially those related to their human rights, from treatment, education and communication with their families.
Chicago Congressman Danny Davis said in a letter that he stood by the humanitarian demands of Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike, and that he was concerned about their health conditions because of the prolonged period of hunger and talk about the Israeli government’s tendency to feed them forcibly.
According to the Department of Expatriate Affairs of the Palestine Liberation Organization from responsibles in the Palestinian American Council, in a letter addressed to Palestinian American Council President Ghassan Barakat and other Palestinian organizations, Congressman Davis called on the Israeli government to release all Palestinian prisoners detained on political grounds.
Davis stressed that the demands of the striking Palestinian prisoners are purely humanitarian, including regular family visits, the end of administrative detention without charge, health treatment and the ability to continue education.
He added: “The majority of Palestinian prisoners are arrested on the backdrop of the announcement of their positions and organization against violations of human rights to which they are exposed and their release is one of the main keys to find a way to achieve justice and peace in the region.
Earlier, pro-Palestinian political activists have launched a campaign with members of the US Congress to adopt the demands of strikers.
Members of Congress agree to listen to the Israeli side’s narrative before issuing a position by asking the Israeli Embassy in Washington, which responded with political excuses and excuses without clearly responding to the main inquiry into human rights violations of prisoners, namely detention without trial, family visits, solitary confinement, and health conditions.
