Media Committee: The health situation of the striking prisoners is serious

The media committee of the Prisoners ‘Affairs and Prisoners’ Association said that the health situation of prisoners who hunger strike for the 37th day in a row is serious and requires effective movement to save their lives especially after repeated and rapid reports about the transfer of large numbers of them in the last hours to civilian hospitals after the deterioration of their health.
The Committee stressed in a press release that the administration of the prison authorities of the occupation practices the policy of isolating the striking prisoners from the outside world and imposes obstacles to the right of strikers’ families and human rights organizations to see their health conditions and the names and conditions of those who were transferred to hospitals.
The commettee pointed out that the prison administration had set up field clinics inside the prisons before the strike began, lacking the basic medical equipment that is suitable to the emergency situation of the prisoners. The prisoners are being offered treatment in return for the end of the strike, and doctors in these clinics put various types of food to blackmail them, according to documented testimonies of a number of prisoners in a number of prisons, according to the statement of the Committee.
The media committee added that recently, after the health situation of the striking prisoners and the policy of long-term medical negligence, the prison administration has transferred all the strikers to prisons close to hospitals. The ambulances are connected to prison doors and dozens of prisoners whose health is deteriorating are transferred to hospitals.
The media committee called on the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Health Organization and Doctors for Human Rights Organization to pressure the occupation government to preserve the lives of the striking prisoners and prevent a real disaster, and the demand to disclose the developments of their health.
