The city of Jerusalem, its neighborhoods, towns, markets and schools have been holding a general strike since Monday morning in response to the committee’s call to support the empty intestines battle of prisoners in the occupation prisons for 36 days.

   Local sources said that activists from various national forces began to close most of the main and secondary streets of the Jerusalem neighborhoods and towns with barricades and sandblocks, while the streets of the holy city of Jerusalem called for a general strike.

   It said that the strike included all the schools in the holy city, and the public transport between the city center and the neighborhoods and towns in the suburbs was stopped. At the same time, the national forces and the Jerusalem youth movement called on the citizens, via social media websites, to participate extensively in the solidarity activities supporting the prisoners strike.

   On the other hand, a comprehensive strike in Jerusalem coincided with the unprecedented measures of occupation in the Holy City, where the occupation is preparing to receive US President Donald Trump.

   The occupation transformed Jerusalem into a military barracks because of the large number of occupation forces in the city, and the closure of streets and main roads and branches in the two parts of Jerusalem, and the establishment of military patrols and police,  and the rise of roofs of building and the historic wall of Jerusalem.

   The Israeli occupation forces launched yesterday night and dawn today a new arrests campaign of young men and children from different neighborhoods in the holy city, centered in the old town and Silwan south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
