"Joint List" casts no confidence in the "Nationalism Law" draft

The head of the parliamentary bloc of the joint list, MK Jamal Zahalka, described the “National Law” project as the most dangerous racist law that has been presented in the Knesset for decades, where the law stipulates that it is above all laws and they subject to it and to its full content.
In proposing a no-confidence motion for the government, Zahalka said that the proposed law was intended to strengthen the Jewish state system and to make the principle of the Jewish state above any other legal consideration, giving judicial legitimacy to existing racial discrimination and opening the door for more.
He stressed that the consideration of the state as the property of the Jewish people and that it alone is the principle that governs the structure of the regime, the state and the government. will establish a legal basis for depriving the refugees of return and two types of citizenship, one for the Jews built on privileges and the other for Arabs, based on incomplete rights, and this is an apartheid system.
“We will not be subject to this racism and we will not adapt to its regime,” Zahalka said. “If the existing regime is unable to provide equal citizenship for all, it must be dismantled from its foundation and the establishment of a state system for all citizens.”
He added “We are not only facing racism, but specifically colonial racism, and the proposed law confirms this through an item that allows the establishment of settlements for groups of one religion or one nationality, and the goal is clear, which is racist separation with law.”
