A letter to the British Parliament asking it to intervene to protect the striking prisoners

The London-based Palestinian Return Centre sent a letter to all British MPs calling for solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners who are on hunger strike and taking a supportive stance urging the British government to intervene for them.
In its letter, the centre explained that about 1,500 prisoners enter their third week without food in an open strike aimed at shedding light on their cause and improving the conditions of their detention and securing their rights stipulated by the continued Israeli intransigence and procrastination to evade this benefit.
The centre’s report included statistics on the number of detainees reaching 6,300 detainees, including 500 administrative detainees, 300 children and over 61 women. Some 458 of them are serving sentences. They are subjected to various types of torture, medical negligence, solitary confinement, denial of visits and various rights. After they were denied access to fair civil trials as indicated by numerous international human rights reports, including Amnesty International’s.
In its letter, the centre urged all British MPs to act urgently to protect human rights and to urge the British government to put pressure on Israel to stop these horrific violations and to abide by international law and respect for prisoners’ rights
