Bahar condemns US request to extradite Tamimi and hails rejection of Jordan

Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) First Deputy Speaker Ahmad Bahar condemned the US request to extradite the Jordanian ex-detainee journalist Ahlam al-Tamimi in order to be prosecuted on the charge of “terrorism”.

In his Friday sermon in al-Kanz Mosque in Gaza, Bahar hailed Jordan for its rejection of the US extradition request.

SAFA news agency quoted Bahar as saying that resistance is not “terrorism”, and affirming that it is a right of the Palestinian people in consistence with the international law.

The US accusation against Tamimi has stemmed from a 2001 bombing at a Sbarro pizzeria restaurant in Occupied Jerusalem. Two US citizens were reportedly killed in that anti-occupation attack.
