Participation of Palestine in the meetings of the IPU in Geneva.

  The delegation of the Palestinian National Council headed by Azzam Al Ahmad have participated in the meetings of the session (135) of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held during the period of 23-27 of the last month, in Geneva, where more than 141 parliaments from various parts of the world have participated in these meetings.
  The delegation participated in a number of meetings held on 24th and 25th of October in Geneva, including: the meetings of the Arab and Islamic groups in the IPU, under the chairmanship of the President of the Arab Parliamentary Union and the Lebanese House speaker Nabih Berri, and discussed a range of issues, the most important of which are: the adoption of common positions toward the emergency items on the agenda of the Assembly of the union which are 9 items, including the item submitted by the delegation of Morocco on the request to the parliaments of the world to complete the recognition of an independent Palestinian state, with the sovereignty of the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital, within the framework of the promotion of international peace and security adjourned by the two groups, Arab and Islamic countries, since the previous meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Zambia, last March, with their commitment of inscribing at the session held in Geneva.
