MP Mohammad Aql Participates in the Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference in Tashkent

The Advisor to the President of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, and a member of the Jordanian House of Representatives, MP Mohammad Aql, participated in the 150th session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, under the theme: "Parliamentary Action for Development and Social Justice."

In his intervention during the session, MP Aql emphasized the need for a unified international parliamentary stance to stop the genocide being committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. He called for concrete steps to put an end to this ongoing aggression.

Aql proposed forming an international parliamentary delegation to visit the Rafah border crossing to support Palestinians in Gaza, followed by a global tour to rally support for ending the aggression, lifting the blockade, and ensuring the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid.

MP Aql stated, "What is happening in Gaza is not an armed conflict between two parties, but an ongoing crime against humanity targeting civilians, children, and women, in blatant violation of all international conventions and United Nations resolutions."

He added, "On behalf of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, we demand an immediate ceasefire, the opening of crossings to allow the unconditional entry of humanitarian aid, and the lifting of the blockade imposed on Gaza for over 17 years."

Aql also affirmed that the League is working with its partners in various parliaments to push the international community to take firm positions, including imposing sanctions on the occupation, halting all forms of military and security cooperation with it, and implementing arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court against occupation leaders.

He explained that the Arab group’s coordination meeting in Tashkent adopted a joint position reaffirming the centrality of the Palestinian cause and calling for the activation of international parliamentary pressure tools to stop Israeli violations and ensure accountability for crimes committed against Palestinians.

In conclusion, MP Aql stressed the importance of enhancing Arab and Islamic parliamentary presence in international forums, working to amplify the voice of the Palestinian people, and exposing the crimes of the occupation. He noted that "parliamentary diplomacy" has become one of the most effective tools for influencing global policies today.

In a related context, Aql was chosen to chair the committee responsible for drafting the final statement of the Arab group in the IPU. The statement reaffirmed support for Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, especially in light of the systematic crimes being committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The agenda of the current session included numerous parliamentary meetings and events, such as permanent committee meetings, specialized conferences, workshops, and regional and international parliamentary forums, which addressed key global issues.
