The Secretary-General of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, affirmed that the League will continue its efforts to mobilize international parliamentary support for the Palestinian cause and to cooperate with parliaments worldwide in confronting the occupation’s plans to Judaize Jerusalem and forcibly displace Palestinians.
During a meeting organized by the League, which brought together former minister and current Turkish MP as well as League member Nureddin Nebati, with a Jordanian parliamentary delegation, Balawi emphasized the importance of coordination among parliamentarians supporting the Palestinian cause worldwide. He highlighted the need to maintain continuous political and parliamentary pressure on the occupation and to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
He stated that the League is holding a series of meetings with parliamentarians from various countries to unify international parliamentary efforts in support of the Palestinian cause and to counter the occupation’s attempts to alter realities on the ground and impose a new status quo.
The Secretary-General of the League stressed the importance of enhancing joint parliamentary efforts to support the Palestinian cause, particularly in light of the unprecedented challenges facing the Palestinian people. He underscored the need for firm stances and broad international solidarity.
He reiterated his firm rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause, whether through what is known as the "Trump Plan" to displace the people of Gaza or through policies of forced displacement and settlement expansion.
Balawi called on all parliaments around the world to take stronger positions against the occupation and urged their governments to impose real international sanctions to force it to end its ongoing aggression. He also emphasized holding the occupation fully responsible for the reconstruction of Gaza, rejecting the unjust siege on the Strip, and strengthening the resilience of its people.
