President of the League Calls for International and Arab Action to Solidify the Ceasefire and Lift the Siege on Gaza

The President of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, Mr. Hamid Al-Ahmar, has called for international and Arab action to establish a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, prevent forced displacement, and ensure the immediate and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.

During his speech at a press conference of the League, attended by a Jordanian parliamentary delegation, Al-Ahmar emphasized the crucial role of parliamentarians in advocating for the Palestinian cause in international forums and parliaments. He noted that “the Palestinian people have done their part, and they must not be left alone in this struggle.”

He urged all parliaments, international bodies, and humanitarian organizations to strengthen the resilience of Gaza’s residents, work towards lifting the unjust blockade on the Strip, and ensure the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid. He stressed that the occupation bears full responsibility for the massive destruction in Gaza and must be held accountable for reconstruction efforts, while calling on all nations to play an active role in relief operations.

Al-Ahmar also called on the international community to reject policies of forced displacement and ethnic cleansing, to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land, and to uphold their legitimate right to self-determination and the establishment of their state. Additionally, he urged the imposition of a comprehensive boycott on the occupation in all fields, including political, economic, academic, and sports sectors.

The President of the League underscored that international pressure is no longer an option but has become a moral and humanitarian duty. He stressed that responsibility should go beyond speeches and condemnations, requiring effective action at political, legal, and diplomatic levels to ensure an end to the occupation, halt aggression, and achieve justice for the Palestinian people.

He added, “The role of Arab parliamentarians, as well as members of the League, includes protecting European parliamentarians who support the Palestinian cause from attacks by far-right groups.” He explained that “many of these lawmakers are subjected to smear campaigns and accusations of anti-Semitism merely for defending Palestinian rights.”
