Al-Shaheen: Western Support Enabled the Occupation to Commit the Largest Genocide in Recent Years

Osama Al-Shaheen, a member of the executive committee of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine and a member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, stated that Western support for the Israeli occupation has allowed it to commit genocide in the Gaza Strip.

In a tweet on X, Al-Shaheen explained that "Israel's defeat occurred despite a military, economic, and diplomatic alliance from the U.S., U.K., Germany, and the West, and sometimes from some Arabs, to enable them to achieve their common goal of ending Palestinian resistance."

He continued, "This alliance allowed the occupation to commit the largest genocide witnessed in the world in recent years, but without achieving their shared goal."

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, stating that it reflects a response to the voices of peoples and international communities calling for an end to the cycle of violence and for the protection of innocent civilians.

The league affirmed in a statement that achieving this agreement is an important first step towards alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, which has been under siege for years. They called for the lifting of the unjust blockade on the region and for ensuring the national rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
