On Monday, newly-elected Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra carried a bag labeled "Palestine" to Parliament.
Attending her first parliamentary session following her recent election success, Ms. Gandhi Vadra has been vocal about the Israeli military's actions in Gaza since the outbreak of the war in October of the previous year.
In July, she criticized Benjamin Netanyahu and urged the international community to denounce Israel's "genocidal actions" and take steps to halt them.
She emphasized that it is the "moral responsibility" of every conscientious individual, including Israeli citizens who reject hatred and violence, as well as all governments worldwide, to condemn the Israeli government.
This event occurred a week after Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer, the chargé d’affaires at the Palestine Embassy, met with the newly elected MP. During their meeting, Abu Jazer gifted her a photo depicting a conversation between the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Palestinian leader Yaser Arafat in New Delhi.
Abu Jazer noted that the MP expressed her solidarity with the Palestinian people's quest for statehood.
