The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, stated that it is time to discuss suspending "Israel's" membership in the United Nations.
During his participation in the G20 Parliamentary Speakers Summit held in Brazil, Kurtulmuş added that "the failure to implement international law and United Nations resolutions has turned into a continuous state terrorism in Palestine and Lebanon."
He explained that based on the Israeli government's declaration labeling UN Secretary-General António Guterres as "a persona non grata," as well as its attacks against the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), "the time has come to discuss suspending Israel's membership in the United Nations."
He pointed out that the genocide in Gaza deprives people of their basic rights, emphasizing that this is not a regional problem but a common issue for the entire world. He affirmed that it is the shared responsibility of global parliaments to come together for the "common good" to establish a world based on justice, fairness, and peace.
