The Secretary-General of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, called for practical steps to punish the Israeli occupation for its crimes against humanity, international law, and UN institutions.
In his speech at the "Global Parliamentary Anti-Fascism Forum" in Venezuela, Balawi demanded the expulsion of the Israeli occupation from the United Nations in response to its violation of hundreds of resolutions from the General Assembly and the Security Council and committing genocide against the Palestinian people, in addition to boycotting and isolating it and exerting real pressure on it.
He clarified that condemnation and solidarity through feelings would not help, but what would help is to exert maximum pressure on Israel by cutting diplomatic, economic, and military relations with it at all levels.
The Secretary-General noted that "Israel" recently attacked UN peacekeeping forces in the south, targeted UNRWA facilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and issued a law banning its operations in the occupied territories, in addition to killing hundreds of UN employees in Gaza.
He continued, "We need to stand united, and this conference is a great example of what we aim for. Just as Venezuela was the starting point for the liberation of all of South America, I hope this conference will also be the starting point for the liberation of Palestine."
He expressed his gratitude to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Venezuelan Parliament Speaker Jorge Rodríguez for organizing and sponsoring the conference, expressing hope for enhancing cooperation between the League and the Venezuelan Parliament.
