Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş stated that the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip has reached terrifying levels, and Israel has reached the peak of "occupation, brutality, and denial of the most basic principles of human rights" that it has practiced for decades.
Kurtulmuş emphasized, during the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Switzerland, the necessity to stop the genocide being waged by Israel against the Palestinian people, as well as the occupation and colonization of Palestinian territories.
He called for the mutual release of all prisoners and detainees, ensuring access to humanitarian aid, and commitment to the two-state solution as the only formula for peace and security in the region, demanding support for the recognition of Palestine as an independent sovereign state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
