President of the League: The U.S. Decision Against Me is an Attempt to Criminalize My Efforts in Supporting Palestinian Rights

The President of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine and Member of the Yemeni Parliament, Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, stated that the U.S. decision to impose economic sanctions on him is yet another example of blatant American bias in favor of oppression and occupation, reflecting an unlawful attempt to criminalize his modest legal and humanitarian efforts in support of the just cause of the Palestinian people.

Mr. Hamid affirmed in a statement that the decision contradicts all international norms and laws that affirm the right of peoples to freedom, and reflects discomfort with the efforts made by free individuals around the world to support human rights and reject injustice in Palestine. He emphasized that his activities are entirely consistent with the laws and commitments of Yemen and the Yemeni people towards the Palestinian cause, as well as with the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, international law, and international court rulings.

He held the U.S. administration responsible for its rejected and condemned decision and the potential harm that may result to him, his family, and his businesses, noting that he will take the necessary legal actions to challenge the decision before the relevant judicial bodies.

Mr. Hamid continued in his statement, "I affirm that this designation will not deter me from continuing my steadfast support for the just Palestinian cause, and I will continue to stand by its people in their legitimate struggle against the occupation and its horrific crimes that have stirred the human conscience and produced an unprecedented international solidarity movement encompassing all nations of the world, exposing the claims of Western powers and their pretense of respecting freedoms."

The President of the League stressed that solidarity with the Palestinian cause is not a crime, but rather a humanitarian and legal duty imposed on us by moral principles, divine laws, and international charters. He thanked all entities and individuals who expressed their rejection of the decision, reflecting the unity and belief in the importance of fighting for just causes, foremost among them the cause of al-Quds and Palestine.

He noted that the decision came in conjunction with the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, supported by unlimited military and political backing from the United States and some Western powers.
