The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine Condemns the U.S. Decision Against League President Mr. Hamid Al-Ahmar
The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine condemns the arbitrary announcement by the U.S. Department of the Treasury imposing sanctions on the League's President and Yemeni Parliament member, Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, accusing him of supporting terrorism.
The League affirms that the issuance of this decision on the eve of October 7, marking the anniversary of the genocide in Gaza, reflects a premeditated vengeful desire against supporters of Palestinian rights. It represents an actual partnership in the Israeli crime against the Palestinian people, not only by providing weapons and intelligence but also by preventing any form of adopting the Palestinian perspective and supporting its rights.
The League emphasizes that this blatant unconditional support for the occupying state shifts the U.S. role from a partner in aggression to an active participant in hostility towards the Palestinian people. It serves as further evidence that the U.S. administration is unfit to be a mediator in resolving the Palestinian issue or any of the Middle East's issues, and that it is the primary cause of the tragedies faced by the Palestinian people.
The League reiterates that supporting the Palestinian people is a duty mandated by international decisions and laws, as they are a people under foreign occupation. This attempt to intimidate those who advocate for Palestinian rights, particularly the League's President, will only increase their determination and resolve to support what they believe is just and right.
The League calls on those who issued this arbitrary decision, at a time when Israel is committing genocide and should be referred to the International Court of Justice, to retract this disgraceful act and be ashamed of themselves as it contradicts all principles of justice and fairness and provides unjust support to the occupier.
The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine and its members stand by Mr. Hamid in his right to express his opinions and political positions without intimidation from any party. They emphasize that standing in solidarity with the plight of the Palestinian people is a badge of honor for every free person in the world.
