Irish Deputy Accuses Israel of Committing War Crimes against Palestinians and Calls for International Action

Irish parliament member Richard Boyd Barrett has stated that Western leaders are aware that Israel has committed "war crimes" against Palestinians since its establishment, but they have chosen to turn a blind eye for their own interests.

Boyd made these remarks during an interview with an Anadolu Agency correspondent while participating in an event in London titled "Palestine and Gaza."

Boyd expressed his difficulty in witnessing the crimes committed by Israel against the people of Gaza and the destruction it has caused in the region, noting that these actions constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity.

He added, "This is genocide and ethnic cleansing, and the United States, the United Kingdom, and other governments that support and justify Israel's actions should be ashamed."

For the past 40 days, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries, exacerbating the humanitarian and health conditions in the area. Approximately 1.5 million people out of a total of 2.3 million have been displaced from their homes due to continuous bombardment and the blockade of food, water, medicine, and electricity supplies.

Deputy Barrett emphasized the need to take action to rally people in the United States, Britain, and Ireland to demand the expulsion of Israeli ambassadors and the imposition of sanctions on Israel due to this brutality. He called for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and war criminals and an end to ongoing war crimes.

He also urged increased pressure on Israel to halt its attacks on Gaza, pointing out that Israel has been built on terrorism against the Palestinian people since 1948, the illegitimate occupation of Palestinian lands, the continuous seizure of Palestinian territories, the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homes and villages, and ethnic cleansing.
