In a powerful and brave appeal 2677 professors coming from all the main Italian Universities ask to the Foreign Minister and Minister for University and Research to act immediately to move the entire International Community towards a strong request of ceasefire and respect of the International Law. 

In the brief document the academics expose the reasons of a hard condemn of what is happening in the Gaza Stripe: “Israel has ordered the displacement of over than 1 million people, well knowing that there are no safe ways and no safe areas. Many of those have been attacked on their road: this is a clear signal of the aims of ethnical cleansing”

And more “the Gaza siege, the indiscriminate bombings, the deny of humanitarian corridors and aid for civilians, is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention and of the International”. 

For the Academics it is necessary to recognize the context in which this last wave of violence was born, “the roots” of this massacre. 

Therefore, following the appeal, “we have to clearly affirm the historical, colonial and inhuman oppression that the Palestinians are living since 75 years”. 

Therefore they also call for respect of the Freedom of thought and speech, condemning the silencing campaign led by the Mainstream Media and the attempt to restrict the democratic space, and calls the Italian Government to act in the International Institution asking for Peace, safeness for everyone, ceasefire and the full respect of the rights of the Palestinian People. 

“This is a strong demonstration” declared the European President of the League Michele Piras “that the Community of Italian intellectuals is no longer available to endure the mystification of the truth, the theater of lies going on for a month now. The roots of the Italian democracy are alive, and no one more will accept lies, not the Academics and not the simple people, that in the last weeks is fulling the streets and the squares with two flags: the rainbow of Peace and the Palestinian one”. 

“It is the result of a deep work of information and awarness, led by hundred Associations and Organizations, like we are, both on the Institutional level and the public opinion”.

“This appeal shows clearly that the Intellectual Community of a great democratic Country like Italy cannot be suffocated by the propaganda”
