Zon Calls on the World to End Hypocrisy and Betrayal Regarding the Palestinian People

Fadli Zon, the Deputy President of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and the Chair of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed astonishment at the West's labeling of those fighting for their freedoms in various parts of the world as "fighters for freedom," while in Palestine, those fighting for their land and justice are branded as terrorists by the world.

During a speech at a meeting of parliamentarians from G20 countries, Zon highlighted that the current situation in Palestine is a result of the international community's and the United Nations' silence, coupled with ongoing repression by Israel. He called on the world to end its double standards and hypocrisy in assessing conflicts in Palestine.

Zon emphasized the importance of urging Israel to end the occupation and the siege, which is intensifying by cutting off electricity, water, and vital access to the Palestinian people, especially those relying on electricity in hospitals, the babies at the incubator, and many others. He affirmed that the Israeli occupation's aggression in the Gaza Strip is a crime against humanity and must be stopped.

Zon demanded urgent and unhindered humanitarian access as a top priority, noting that there can be no global peace until everyone lives in peace, and that is the situation in Palestine.

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds confirmed that the Palestinian explosion that occurred this morning is a result of the ongoing assault by the Israeli occupation on Al-Aqsa Mosque, the annexation of Palestinian lands, provocation of Palestinians' sentiments, and the escalating Judaization of occupied Jerusalem. It also highlighted the continued strict blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2006, which has caused catastrophic suffering in the region.

The League stressed, in a statement, that what has happened is a clear evidence of the failure of the international justice system and international institutions, as well as the complicity of major powers with the Israeli occupation, enabling it to eliminate any opportunity for justice for the Palestinian people. It was natural for the Palestinian people to exercise their right to resistance and return to their land, as they have been left alone.
